THINKING GREEN
The Negev region's clean and fresh air is one of Ramat Negev's trademarks. Since 1994, Ramat Negev has been running a local committee for environmental issues, whose members
| are council residents functioning on a voluntary basis. In its first years of activity, the committee dealt with treatment of the hazards of the Ramat Hovav waste disposal site. Later on, other issues such as recycling, environmental education and appropriate ways of handling environmental hazards were also highlighted in their discussions. Today's leading environmental projects | | | in Ramat Negev involve treatment of agricultural waste and urban organic waste; collecting toxic domestic waste; recycling plastic bottles; educational activity; environmental challenges caused by Ramat Negev factories; and broad general public activity on the topic of Ramat Hovav.
