AYALIM

The Ayalim Non-profit Association operates with the funding of the

 Rashi Mada-Rom
Foundation and in conjunction with the National Students' Organization, the Ramat Negev Regional Council, the Jewish Agency for Israel, the prime minister's advisor for settlement affairs and others. These partners are collaborating to promote the
establishment of student and entrepreneur villages in the Negev and the Galilee which will constitute bases for permanent settlement and social action.

The Association's Goals

  • Augmenting the settlement map in the Negev and the Galilee by giving high priority to the reinforcement of existing communities;
  • Educating toward Zionist values and mutual responsibility in Israeli society;
  • Moving processes forward so as to remove the outlying regions, the Negev and Galilee, from the cycle of distress and desertion which have characterized them in the last few decades.

To this end, the association strives to create a system of benefits and incentives for and students to settle in villages that will be

 set up within existing under-populated communities in distress. In return, they will devote 10 hours a week to educational and social activities in the towns of the Negev. During the period they live in these villages, entrepreneurs students will undergo a significant educational
and experiential process. In the association's view, experiencing such a process in the crucial years of their lives, in terms of the consolidation of their professional identity, personal values and vision of their future, will result in a sizable number of them opting to remain in these outlying areas.

"Ayalim" Students' and Young Entrepreneurs' Village in Ashalim

The "Ayalim" Association is promoting the "Adiel Village", a venture being established by the regional council in collaboration with donors from abroad and partners such as the Sacta-Rashi Foundation, the Settlement Division of the Jewish Agency, relevant government ministries, the Queen Esther Campaign of Mr. David Merage and the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado.
In "Adiel Village", construction and development will include approximately 150 student dormitories, public buildings and an entrepreneurial center. Around 100 students, who have already passed the screening process and been approved, are enjoying full scholarships in return for 10 weekly hours of educational and community volunteer work in Negev development towns as well as in

the Ramat Negev region.
We believe that this project has the power to make an important contribution to the Ramat Negev community and to Ashalim, where the student village is located, and provides an opportunity to reveal the region's advantages to  many young
people who are likely to link their future to the Negev.
